'MIDI' PASSIVE HOUSES

Selection of single-family houses created with colaboration of MIDI Architects - Alicja and Piotr Karaś in Gdańsk within half year period of time.

Common feature of all of these houses is their passivity - light constructed wall with a thick insulation layer, big windows on the south, small on north part of the house. Compact and simple volume is also very imortant for keeping the heat in winter and cooling the house over summer. All these as wellas new technologies like heat pumps, solar thermal collectors, wind turbines, household sewage treatment plants (depending on customer's wish) cause in low use of energy, low heating and cooling costs. Their passivity is tested through PHPP - the energy balance and Passive House planning programme. These eco-friendly houses create healthy living environment for their inhabitats.
